Are you a white-identified therapist, facilitator, organizer or healer looking for support in embodying the spirit of healthy allyship within your private practice or project?
I provide consultation for groups of practitioners interested in integrating the foundations of healthy allyship into their work, especially around the subject of racism cessation.
Underneath my consultation practice is a concept I loosely refer to as cultural somatic healing.
Cultural somatic healing is just as much a model for social change based on an understanding that our culture is a soma (a body) as it is a model for somatic healing that deeply recognizes the connection between our individual and collective wounds.
To me, the principles of cultural somatic healing simply follow the principles of life-affirming, nourishing, compassionate body-centered healing.
- We hold the cultural soma with unconditional positive regard, for its resilience and beauty.
- We respect and trust the inherent wisdom of the cultural soma and support its natural course of healing through space holding, appropriate guidance, or even intervention, and compassionate reflection.
- We understand that validating the sometimes extremely challenging emotional experiences of the cultural soma is not the same as condoning its behavior, especially when there is violence.
The practice of cultural somatic healing emphasizes embodiment in allyship because relationships are the nervous system of the cultural soma.
Because of the nature of the group, participants are limited to certified therapists, facilitators, coaches, and healers, or folks who have at least 2-3 years of prior experience in holding space for others.
